This book is my most angsty title and if you’re a regular reader of rom-coms this will feel very angsty and dark in comparison.
Sensitive readers please read mindfully.

This was my first attempt at a dark romance and I honestly ended up pulling back quite a bit when writing this.
While I found it cathartic writing such an intense story, I also want to acknowledge that this is heavier and more complicated than my other titles. It’s a fun read but if you’re looking for warm fuzzies, this book isn’t that.
It’s intense, sexy, dangerous, and one reader said it was like an episode of Covert Affairs, which I’ve never seen but I take as a compliment!
If you like a morally gray hero, this is him. -
Spoilers to follow
The first chapter is the only place where the MMC “lays his hands” on the FMC. The MMC in order to save the FMC from a more brutal attack has to rough her up to appease the powers that be. He utilizes verbal intimidation, cuts her hair, and strikes her once to leave her with a split lip as proof. All in a mask.
The FMC is kidnapped and briefly ‘waterboarded’ for information regarding the MMC. This is referenced quickly when the MMC finds her and saves her.
The first time the main characters have sex, it’s under threat of the bad guys claiming the FMC for themselves. They force the main characters to have sex to they can record it.
During a gala one of the bad guys attempts to sexually assault the FMC after drugging her, but the MMC gets there and saves her before anything happens. The moment leads up to the act of intent, but there is no follow through. The MMC then kills the man.
At the end of the book the FMC kills several bad guys more-or-less with her bare hands. It’s intense and violent, though the scene is not overly detailed as far as gore. The intent was to include harrowing circumstances without dwelling on graphic details.
